Leontyne Price
(Opera Autographs - Soprano)

Leontyne Price is considered one of the finest sopranos to have graced the operatic stage. She especially excelled in Verdi roles and is probably best remembered for her Aida. She was successful in many other dramatic soprano roles, such as Leonora in Verdi's Il Trovatore and Puccini's Tosca. Her reportory also included such diverse composers as Richard Strauss and Mozart. Price made her operatic debut in the 1950s and soon became one of the most successful and popular African-Americans of her time. She had a particularly strong association with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.

This is an excellent condition complete program from October 19, 1965 signed by soprano Leontyne Price, along with tenor Sandor Konya and baritone Raymond Wolansky, the Renato for that night's performance of Giuseppe Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera. Ms. Price was the Amelia and Mr. Konya was the Riccardo. The performance took place in San Francisco. This program is in fine condition with no tears or bends. The autographs themselves are also great. This is a wonderful momento of what was surely a wonderful night at the opera with a fine group of singers.
