This is a vintage black & white signed photograph of operatic mezzo-soprano Gladys Swarthout. Swarthout signed the photo in the 1940s for avid opera autograph collector Charles P. W. Blum. It measures 6 ½ x 4 ½ in. It is in very good condition. The corners and edges are in excellent condition, but there is a slight horizontal bend in middle and some very slight staining on right side (a little above and below the last letters of her name). The portrait is lovely. (The scan cut off a little of the right border. Also, light horizontal lines appear in the scan that are not in the actual photo). Photos of opera singers James Melton, Item number A041, and Emanuel List, Item number A043, also come from the Blum collection.
