Alberto Erede

Italian conductor Alberto Erede was born in Genoa in 1908. He studied in Genoa, Milan, and Basle, then with Weingartner and in Dresden with Fritz Busch. He made his debut in Rome in 1930 and became the music director of the Salzburg Opera Guild in 1935. He was an assistant to Busch at the Glyndebourne Festival, 1934-9. Leinsdorf made his American debut with the NBC orchestra in 1937 and conducted at the Metropolitan Opera in New York from 1950 to 1955. He conducted Lohengrin at Bayreuth in 1968. He returned to the Rome Opera in 1988.
